✔ What Eyewear Products Are FSA/HSA Eligible?

Eligible (HC Eligible)

  • Prescription lenses (Single Vision, Progressive, Bifocal)

  • High-index materials (1.60 / 1.67 / 1.74 etc.)

  • Specialty lenses (Transitions, Blue Light with Rx, Occupational lenses)

  • Prescription sun lenses

  • Tart Optical Rx lenses produced by licensed optical professionals

  • Frames when purchased WITH prescription lenses

Not Eligible

  • Frames without prescription lenses

  • Plano (non-Rx) sunglasses

  • Fashion accessories

  • Lens add-ons without a prescription (e.g., non-Rx tinting)

✔ How Flex FSA/HSA Payments Work

1. Add Your Prescription Item to Cart

At checkout, Flex automatically detects HC-Eligible items in your cart.
Examples:

  • “Shamir Autograph III – 1.67 High-Index (Rx)”

  • “Prescription Lens Package – Progressive”

  • “Rx Sun Lenses – Polarized”

2. Select “FSA/HSA” at Checkout

Flex will appear as a payment option only when your cart contains eligible items.

3. Flex Verifies Your Eligibility Instantly

Flex checks your cart for eligibility tags (we apply these on our backend):

  • fsa-hsa-eligible

  • eligible-medical

  • medical-expense

You don’t need to do anything — Flex handles the verification.

4. Pay Using Your FSA or HSA Card

You’ll simply enter your FSA/HSA debit card details just like a normal payment card.

5. Receive a Receipt for Your Medical Purchase

Flex issues an IRS-compliant receipt for your records.

If the cart contains eligible and non-eligible items, Flex will allow:

  • Credit/debit card for non-eligible portion

✔ How to Submit Your Prescription

You’ll be prompted at checkout to upload or enter your prescription.
You may provide:

  • A photo upload (PDF/JPG/PNG)

  • A typed-in prescription

  • An emailed copy later (we will contact you if needed)

By clicking “Add Prescription,” you certify you have a valid, current prescription issued by a licensed eye-care professional as required under the FTC Eyeglass Rule (16 CFR Part 456).
